Mental Health support is inevitably a continued and growing necessity. Thankfully, much attention is being paid to the shortage of providers in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin and across the United States.
Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County supports higher education in the fields of Mental Health and its many disciplines.
Prevent Suicide of Manitowoc County’s 2023 Scholarship Application is open to current students who will be enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a degree in a Mental Health profession. Two $2000 scholarships will be awarded, presented, and announced at the recipient’s High School Spring Scholarship Awards Event.
The scholarships are in name of PFC Morgan Daly, USMC and Sgt Terry Peterson, USMC - both affected by Mental Health conditions and suicide. These two men make real the tragedy of suicide. They left behind families who loved them dearly and will miss them forever. They also lived in a community without adequate Mental Health resources. We believe that by increasing the number of Mental Health providers in our community and beyond, more people will live in mental wellness; potentially reducing the number of suicides. The scholarships were born from the desire to directly influence and support students in Mental Health education across the county.
Applications will be accepted from January 1, 2023, thru March 31, 2023.
The application including Eligibility Requirements is available below.
We appreciate all students who take the time and interest to apply for this scholarship; and we appreciate your dedication in furthering your education in the Mental Health field.
